Coloring can be a choice-making activity
Coloring is not only about staying inside lines. Children can choose a palette, repeat a pattern, invent a setting or explain why they used a surprising color. Those choices turn a simple picture into a creative activity.
Try a small prompt
Ask for two warm colors, a night version of the picture, or a repeating color pattern. If the child prefers free coloring, let the prompt go. The goal is to create, not to produce one correct picture.
Move between digital and paper tools
After using the Art Studio, draw one element again on paper or create a new background. Different tools change the feel of the activity and keep the child from depending on one interface.
